DLF Malls begin to reopen in Delhi NCR
The mall chain DLF Malls has begun to reopen its establishments in Delhi NCR, with a staggered approach from June 10 with new health and safety measures.
DLF Avenue mall in Saket opened on Wednesday with opening times from 11am to 8pm in accordance with government regulations. The mall houses stores for brands including Biba, Arrow, Forever 21, Forevermark, Mac Cosmetics, Fossil, Desigual, Kama Ayurveda, Ritu Kumar, The Body Shop, and Vero Moda, among others.
DLF Promenade mall in Vasant Kunj opens from June 11 and DLF Mall of India in Noida, one of the largest malls in the country, will reopen from June 12. Malls were able to open from Monday in Delhi and Noida, but DLF delayed its openings to allow for more time to prepare safety measures and staff, ET Bureau reported.
“We wanted to be cautious and have been working closely with all our partner brands to ensure that proper sanitisation processes and six feet social distancing norms will be followed,” DLF Shopping Malls’ executive director, Pushpa Bector, told ET Bureau.
The Central Government permitted malls to open from June 8, as part of its ‘Unlock 1.0’ programme to slowly ease lockdown. Individual states imposed their own rules concerning opening malls according to the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the area.
Delhi NCR has the third highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases out of states in India with 27,654 cases (as of Wednesday afternoon) following Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. On June 10, India counted 2.8 lakh Covid-19 cases with 7,745 fatalities.
