It’s a right of passage for any proper fashion brand, especially if it is Italian. At some point the label or designer has to dress a serious professional football team; and the latest link up is between Diesel and AC Milan.

Named Diesel X AC Milan, it’s a special capsule collection, which hit Diesel stores worldwide this week. Inspired by the off-field uniforms of the Rossoneri (or Red Blacks, after the team colors), the collection features a distinctive fire red Campo-fire pattern.

“The new Diesel X AC Milan special collection mixes street style with an urban mood,” explained Andrea Rosso, Creative Director of Diesel licenses, and son of brand founder Renzo Rosso.

Dressing teams is not so novel; Lanvin dressed Arsenal; and Versace takes care of current Continental champions Real Madrid. But Diesel has taken the concept in a new tailored sport direction – from lightweight jackets and blazers to Campo-fire T-shirts.

Milan is a team blessed with a brilliant history. The club has won been European Champions League seven times, second only to Real Madrid. Which the capsule trumpets via a Celebration top marking AC’s seven European triumphs on the back.

As part of the launch, a team made up of influencers such as DJ Mazay and rapper Rkomi were shot in iconic Milanese locations. Along with, of course,  current players – notably, Patrick Cutrone, Manuel Locatelli, Davide Calabria and Niccolò Zanellato. Though nothing is more sacred to a Rossonero that the sacred ground in their home stadium San Siro.
