Diamond cutting equipment manufacturer STPL develops ventilator to fight Covid-19
Surat-based diamond processing machinery manufacturer STPL has developed ‘IndoVent’, a ventilator designed to aid coronavirus patients in India, and plans to start mass production.
Contributing to the fight against Covid-19 in India, STPL has launched its own medical ventilator, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council announced on its website. The ventilator is designed to be robust and easy to use in emergency situations. The IndoVent ventilator has passed the necessary medical trials at Surat’s Civil Hospital.
The ventilator was developed by a team of specialists who used the same technology used to manufacture machinery used in the diamond processing industry, according to STPL. The business plans to commence mass production of the ventilator with a target of 250 units per-day. STPL also plans to keep the price of the ventilator between Rs 50,000 ($657.10) and Rs 70,000 per unit.
“We dedicate IndoVent to India, with an aim of saving lives, serving nation,” said STPL’s CMD Dhirajlal Kotadia, the GJEPC reported.
“We at STPL believe in solving global problems by developing and evolving technologies. I am really glad that our expertise has been able to serve the nation, when it is critically needed.”
