Designer Rohit Verma accused of sexual harassment

Designer Rohit Verma is the latest celebrity to be accused of sexual harassment in the ongoing #MeToo movement in India.

Male model Saahil Choudhary has accused the designer of sexual misconduct, which allegedly took place at the designer’s residence way back in 2011.
 
In an interview to ZoomTV, Saahil revealed an incident of being sexually exploited by designer Rohit Verma twice.

As per Sahil, the incident happened in the summer of 2011, when he went to Rohit’s place for work both the times. The model said that Rohit asked him to strip in front on him, then touched his crotch and also tried to kiss him.
 
“The instability of work and the pressure of maintaining a cordial relationship with designers is the reason why people from the modeling and fashion industry are not coming out and speaking about the issue," Saahil told Times Now.
 
Verma, however, has called the allegations a publicity stunt. Over a telephone conversation with the channel, the designer said, “If I did molest him, why did he keep coming back to my house?”
 
Saahil refuted Verma’s claim and said that after he was molested for the second time he never met the designer again.
 
The global #MeToo movement against sexual harassment and assault has gained a surge in momentum in India this month with women and men across media, entertainment and other industries making allegations against dozens of prominent personalities.
