Pallavi Mohan of the clothing brand Not So Serious has stepped beyond the fashion industry for a new collaborative project. The drive to normalise periods in Indian society looks like it will be a major theme for 2018 with the biographical film 'Pad Man' inspired by the life of Tamil Nadu activist Arunachalam Muruganantham, who spent his life pioneering access to sanitary products set for release this year. Mohan’s project will form a big part of this and involve the fashion industry in this drive for social change.

The “Don't Hide it. Period." campaign includes a range of t-shirts designed by Mohan that feature slogans such as “It’s not a bad word” or “I’m probably PMSing” which are packaged in polka-dotted canvas bags. These are available on the campaign’s website. The collaboration has also produced a range of sanitary pads with special designs that come in a canvas zip bag. These retail exclusively from the e-commerce beauty store Nykaa.

“I am very proud to be associated with NH1 Design on this cause; I think it is time that the society breaks away from the taboo that is associated with women and their menstrual cycle,” said Mohan.

“Every girl and woman should have access to proper menstrual hygiene. This is just a step closer to what we envision; towards a world where both women and men are aware and consider it as a very important conversation that they need to have.”
