Ecco, the Danish footwear label known for its comfortable, practical shoes, is expanding in the UK, as it targets further strong sales growth in the country.

In the last three years, Ecco has doubled the number of its shops in the UK to more than 40 and now it's set to open more stores later in 2015 and in 2016. The company is currently finalising shop openings in Metrocentre, Manchester, Bromley and Leeds.

This week will also see Ecco relaunch its Oxford Street global flagship store, which is located opposite Selfridges. The shop will have new materials and window schemes, as well as digital elements.

“Our increasing sales activities in the UK are an important contributor to our global growth strategy, and we are tightly focused on our wholly owned retail cluster strategy in the UK, and across Europe”, says UK managing director David Butler.

Though the exact number of new UK stores haven't been revealed, "several" are in the pipeline. Butler also confirmed that KRM AG, the ECCO Group’s European retail company, is pursuing new partnerships in the UK by moving into concessions.
