Mehra said the denim industry has been one of the most promising category in India's apparel market and is projected to grow at 15 per cent annually by 2018.

Meanwhile, G-Star Raw has announced American singer, rapper, and record producer Pharrell Williams as the co-owner of the jeans brand. In his new role, Williams will be involved in the company at many creative levels including collections, advertising and business strategy, the company said.

The move comes after two years of collaboration between G-Star and Williams' company Bionic Yarn on a special collection 'RAW for the Oceans', which transforms recycled ocean plastic into denim. The company did not disclose any financial details.
