Delhi High Court passes ruling in favour of Titan in counterfeit case

Tata group firm Titan Limited has got relief from against sellers of counterfeit goods with the Delhi High Court passing a decree in favour of the company granting a permanent injunction against two sellers and Snapdeal.

Snapdeal has also been asked by the court to file its written statement within the prescribed time, furnish an affidavit with particulars of all the goods sold on its portal under the marks Titan and Fastrack, according to a statement issued by Titan.
 
Commenting on the development, Ravi Kant, CEO of the watches division at Titan Company Limited, said: “We welcome the order passed by the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi. As stated in the past, at Titan, our primary focus is on safeguarding the interests of our consumers and we will not compromise on the quality and experience with our products.”
 
The court earlier in its order dated 29th July 2019 had directed Snapdeal to take down within 24 hours of the order, the URLs against which Titan had lodged complaints.
 
The court had also directed Snapdeal that in case Titan raises complaints of other or further URLs that sell counterfeit goods of Titan, these too shall be immediately removed.
 
Snapdeal too has welcomed the decision and said that it is working on curbing such activities in the future and will take necessary action against offenders.
 
The company had launched its anti-counterfeiting program ‘Brand Shield’ to resolve the issue of counterfeiting and claimed that 8,000 sellers were delisted through this program in the last eight months.
