Delhi Fashion Club hosts khadi, silk show at IFW

Delhi Fashion Club (DFC) organised a khadi and silk show with the theme ‘Local to Global Khadi’ at the recently concluded International Fashion Week in Chandigarh.

Through this show, DFC promoted khadi, handlooms and Northeast textiles. Designers Arbin Tonjam from Manipur and Ashok Maanay from Bangalore showcased their collections at the show.
 
Tonjam’s collections paid tribute to North East handlooms while Maanay’s collections were an ode to National Handloom and Silk

Manipuri actress Bala Hijam and actor R K Sushant were the showstoppers for designer Tonjam, whereas model Sonalika Sahay walked for designer Ashok Maanay.
 
“Through this show, we tried to give a platform to such designers who are working closely with the weavers, artisans and making garments with a vision for a better tomorrow for the world and the nation,” DFC said in a statement.
 
DFC promotes sustainable fashion concept and the initiative is also supported by the Department of Forest & Wildlife, Punjab.
 
The show was curated and directed by Harshit Dhingaun, who was assisted by Thamin and Omendra Gautam.
 
DFC plans to host similar shows to promote handloom in other states like Mumbai, Bangalore in the coming months.
