Padukone is one of the stars of Louis Vuitton’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière’s new campaign for the brand, Elle India reported. The campaign, which reimagines horror themed book covers to showcase Louis Vuitton’s pre-fall 2020 line, includes Padukone as the face of author Michelle Gagnon’s thriller, “Don’t Turn Around”. Padukone wears an oversized grey coat, checked dress, and striking turquoise boots as a threatening spectre gazes at her from behind a pane of glass.

The casting of Padukone amongst a cast of 24 mainly American and European actors shows India’s growing importance in the global luxury market. Padukone told Vogue India that the increased inclusion of India in global fashion is “something that should have happened a long time ago,” adding, “I feel proud that I am being considered as one the people at the forefront of that change. One needs to commend the iconic brand in making this sort of historic move."

Other global faces featured in the campaign include Alicia Vikander, Jennifer Connelly, Yaya, Chloë Grace Moretz, Sophie Turner, and Léa Seydoux. The campaign’s retro styling fits the collection’s mix of vintage and retro sportswear inspirations.
