The performance was notably boosted by new store openings. In 2015, the sporting goods distribution specialist opened 140 stores, 51 of them in China, 17 in India and 15 in Russia. International operations now represent 65% of Decathlon's revenue. The retailer runs 1,030 stores in 29 countries, 300 of which in France, where its revenue has reached €3.1 billion, rising by 2.3%.

Decathlon actually lowered its average prices by about 4.5%, equivalent to €0.65 per item. But it generated a 7% sales rise in volume terms.

Another growth vector was that of online sales, which rose by 35% and now account for 3.1% of Decathlon sales in France, compared to 2.4% in 2014.
