Crafts focused shopping event Dastkari Haat Samiti will present ‘Diwali Craft Bazaar’ from October 8 to 12 at Gallery 1AQ in Mehrauli, New Delhi to promote artisans’ work from across India for the festive season.

Dastkari Haat Samiti aims to support artisans and give shoppers a wide variety of options for festive gifting - Dastkari Haat Samiti

The upcoming business-to-customer shopping event Diwali Craft Bazaar will feature product categories including clothing, textiles, accessories, home linens, jewellery, home décor, and gift items among others, the event announced in a press release. The event will feature independent businesses and NGO-supported craft projects from across the country.

“We want to ensure this festive season is different,” said Dastkari Haat Samiti’s president Jaya Jaitly in a press release. “We have come forward to meet customers half way. If you love craft, human endeavour and creativity, and want to do your bit to keep our craftspeople energised and our traditional arts alive, don’t miss our Dastkari Haat Diwali Crafts Bazaar at Gallery1AQ.”

The shopping fair will take place with full health and safety precautions in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19, according to the organisers. Mask wearing will be mandatory, guests will have their temperature checked, and all exhibitor booths will include mini sanitisation stations.

Throughout recent lockdowns, Dastkari Haat Samiti has worked to support artisans by offering financial aid and training artisans on how to make face masks to enable them to continue to have products to sell, especially during times when only ‘essential’ retail was permitted. The organisation has held craft events for the past 35 years.
