Daiso opens new store in Mumbai, Neha Dhupia inaugurates
Japanese value accessories and lifestyle retailer Daiso has opened a new store in Phoenix Marketcity Kurla in Mumbai. The opening marks Daiso’s fourth brick-and-mortar outlet in India and the business plans to open a total of 50 stores in the country over the course of the next five years.
“Bollywood's most stunning actress Neha Dhupia was the show-stopper at the inauguration of Mumbai's first-ever Daiso Japan store at Marketcity Mumbai,” Phoenix Marketcity Mumbai announced on Facebook. “Come explore a wide array of delightful surprises from Daiso India at the Lower Ground Level.”
The new store retails through a partnership between Apparel Group India Private Limited and Lals International Holdings. Products which feature in the new store include fashion accessories, stationery, toys, pet accessories, and homeware among others.
Daiso opened its first store in India in Chandigarh before opening its doors in Lucknow and Mumbai’s Vasai. The brand aims to continue to open stores at a fast pace and its stores will measure around 3,000 square feet.
“Over the last five decades, Daiso Japan has focused on building a formidable assortment of products for consumers, bringing those trends and experiences from Japan to across the world and now India,” said Apparel Group India’s president Tushar Ved, India Retailing reported. “We aim to open approximately 50 plus stores pan India in the next five years, we are confident of bringing the best of products to a new world of consumers.”
