Dabur partners with Gujarat to procure materials for Ayurvedic products

Dabur India Limited is strengthening its association with the state of Gujarat and is now procuring most of its materials for its Ayurvedic products there.

Dabur said it is strengthening its connection to the state for raw materials for its Ayurvedic products since having entered into an agreement with the state government of Gujarat.

“We have begun procuring significant quantity of Guggul and Ashwagandha from Gujarat since last one year,” Dabur’s head of marketing, Durga Prasad Velidindi, told ET Retail. “Although we were sourcing Guggul from other states earlier, the quality found is Gujarat is superior which explains our association.”

The fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) brand retails an increasing number of Ayurvedic products in the health and personal care sections of the market and is tapping into India’s current Ayurveda boom.

Velidindi recently visit Gujarat to discuss the launch of two new Dabur Ayurvedic medicines using materials from the area. The brand will also attend the Eighth World Ayurveda Congress from Dec. 14-17 in Ahmedabad to launch the products.

Dabur makes a wide range of Ayurvedic products including hair oils, toothpaste, herbal supplements, skincare, and skin-lightening creams among others.
