With this presentation, DESCAT aims to promote the practice of sustainable and circular fashion among future fashion designers. The start-up has collaborated with over 30 fashion schools and institutions around the world.

"NNF design presentation 2021 will be our flagship event to work with ambitious students of fashion schools and professional designers, to promote awareness about how they can contribute towards UN Sustainable Development Goals of 2030, very early through their work," in a statement said K D Sharma, CEO of DESCAT UK.

Dr Vishakha Karnad, coordinator design review board NNF design, added: “We are seeing participation from the largest pool of fashion schools competing in the event like National Institute of Fashion Technology, Wuhan Textile University, Polimoda. The review board has members from Fashion for Good society, The Artisan Gateway, Good Market, The Kaizen Sustainable community, Alsisar Impact, Creative Dignity, Aditya Birla Group, IIHT, Arihant Garment Processor and many other textiles Institutions.”

Over 250 students and professional designers are expected to participate in the event to create products with sustainable NNF yarn and fabric, which will be evaluated by a design review board on parameters like circular fashion capability, social impact, and scalability.
