Cosmetics brand Colorbar plans to launch a range of new eco-friendly product lines and focus on a gender-neutral approach to beauty, believing these two focus areas to be the future of the industry.
“I am very passionate about the environment and soon we will release a line of refillable lipsticks, magnetic eyeshadow pots, lip sticks and liners as well as eyeliners that aim at reusing the old packaging,” Colorbar’s founder and managing director, Samir Modi, told Elle India, in an interview broadcast on Instagram.
The brand also plans to launch an anti-pollution skincare range and a foundation range featuring 33 shades. Colorbar stepped into manufacturing hand sanitisers during lockdown to adapt to changing customer demand. The brand’s Pure-Izer Hand Gel is now one of its bestselling products, according to Modi.
Colorbar has now reopened its stores with new anti-Covid-19 safety measures. With shop staff wearing masks and gloves, makeup testers have been temporarily banned. The brand is working on the launch of an artificial intelligence concept to allow shoppers to virtually try out makeup without having to touch any products.
As India’s makeup industry continues to evolve due to factors including the coronavirus crisis and the emerging Gen Z market, Modi told Elle that the future of makeup is gender-neutral. Sharing that he personally loves makeup and tries out the brand’s products himself, Modi opined that makeup should be available to anyone who wishes to use it.
