Colgate-Palmolive announced it has initiated talks with the All India Consumer Products Distribution Federation after the latter boycotted several of its products. The boycott was due to the business allegedly charging different prices for wholesalers and traditional retailers.

After the All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation rallied together its retailer members to boycott certain Colgate-Palmolive goods in Maharashtra and several other states, the business decided to enter into talks, ET Bureau reported. The trade body had previously requested its distributors not to retail Colgate's Max Fresh brand beginning January 1 in order to push the business to enter into talks.

The AICPDF also threatened to stop retailing Colgate-Palmolive’s Ved Shakti brand from next week if the business failed to begin talks. The organisation wants Colgate-Palmolive to stop charging different prices for business-to-business and business-to-customer distributors.

The business had already entered into discussions with distributors on the issue. “To that end, we have held- and will continue to hold- meetings with them to discuss and resolve their concerns,” said Colgate-Palmolive in a statement on January 5, the Press Trust of India reported.

“In addition, we have met with All India Consumer Products Distribution Federation and shared with them our process of engagement with our distributors and our commitment to address their issues,” said Colgate-Palmolive. “The Federation was supportive of our efforts. We will keep working with our distribution partners, so consumers can continue to enjoy their trusted oral and personal care products.”
