Colgate-Palmolive elevates Mukul Deoras to India chairman

FMCG major Colgate-Palmolive India (CPIL) has elevated its Chief Marketing Officer Mukul Deoras as Chairman of the company with effect from September 1, 2018.

He will take over from outgoing chairman, Vinod Nambiar, who had resigned earlier this month citing personal reasons.
 
With effect from September 1, 2018, Deoras will also serve as President, Asia Pacific Division of Colgate-Palmolive.

“The Board of Directors of the company, through a circular resolution passed on August 27, 2018, has appointed Mukul Deoras as a member and the Chairman of the Board of Directors with effect from September 1, 2018,” Colgate-Palmolive India said in a filing to BSE.
 
The change in leadership comes at a time when Colgate-Palmolive is looking to diversify its portfolio and strengthen its foothold in the Indian market. The company had recently picked up a 14% minority stake in Bombay Shaving Company.
 
Deoras has worked with Colgate-Palmolive India for more than a decade and held several senior positions. Prior to that, he was with Hindustan Unilever Limited from 1984 to 2004.

Deoras holds a post-graduate degree in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
