The founder of luxury fashion and lifestyle boutique Clove, Samyukta Nair, has collaborated with the architect and interior designer Rooshad Shroff and with the fashion design duo Saaksha & Kinni to create a collection titled “Pixel”.

Clove has launched a three-way collaboration at its Mumbai store - Clove the Store- Facebook

The new “Pixel” three-way collaborative collection features clothing designed by Saaksha & Kinni and plates designed by Rooshad Shroff, curated by Clove’s founder Samyukta Nair. The interdisciplinary collection was inspired by Nair’s desire to bring the artists together as they share a mutual aesthetic.

“Being well versed with the designers’ work, I noticed their mutual love for abstract florals and geometry, which is what made me bring them together to create a synergy in aesthetic that gave form to their own distinctive mediums,” Nair told Vogue India about how she conceived of the collaboration. “The line carries an exclusive range of Shroff’s plates in intricate abstract floral marble inlay, while Saaksha & Kinni’s contemporary silhouettes in vibrant prints showcase the desire for individuality that will only be available at Clove.”

The collection mixes together geometric and floral prints to create abstract and modern designs. Indian contemporary influences can be seen, especially in the clothing designed by Saaksha Bhat and Kinnari Kamat which was inspired by their childhood holidays in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

“We have taken iconic motifs and shapes from both states and incorporated the same into our story,” Bhat told the magazine. “The ikats and geometrical florals found in Gujarati architecture, and leheriya from Rajasthan, run rampant in this collection. The idea was to take the traditional Indian prints and modernise them in a contemporary way. Hand micro-pleating is also used, which has been directly inspired by the art of Gujarati crushing.”

Shroff’s plates were created in Agra and feature the same geometric, floral prints as well as semi-precious stones such as lapis lazuli and malachite. The collection is available the Clove The Store in Colaba, Mumbai.
