Citykart to open 150 stores in 5 years, eyes over Rs 320 crore net revenue

The value family fashion chain Citykart Retail Pvt. Ltd. aims to open 150 brick-and-mortar stores in the next five years with a focus on Tier 2 locations and also aims to reach a net revenue total of Rs 320 crore ($48.1 million) this fiscal.

The brand is tapping into a fast-growing market in Tier 2 and 3 cities where branded apparel is becoming more and more in-demand. Citykart sees itself at the forefront of the organisation of this market and, due to strong growth, has predicted a revenue total of Rs 320 crore for the current 2018/2019 fiscal year.

The brand currently has 29 stores in 25 cities and aims to open 150 more to expand its reach.  The next round of stores will open in Tier 2 and 3 cities as these locations are experiencing an organisation of the market which makes Citykart’s value fashion a popular alternative to unbranded clothing for the lower-middle class. The brand’s audience is indeed 80 to 85 percent lower-middle class and so this is its main target group.

Founded in January 2016, Citykart has been steadily growing in India’s value fashion sector. The brand currently operates in mostly Tier 2 locations and smaller towns in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and the Northeast. The average store size in between 8,000 and 10,000 square feet and the brand primarily focuses on high-street locations for store openings.
