The congress also confirmed Gaetano Cavalieri for another two-year term in office as president of CIBJO.
The annual CIBJO congress was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Manama, Bahrain, from November 18 to 20 and steering committee meetings took place on November 16 and 17. The event, which was hosted by the Bahrain Institute for Pearls and Gemstones, was attended by around 220 participants of which around 150 were international.
The congress also saw the creation of three new committees, one for technology in the jewellery industry, one for fund raising for the organisation, and one for lab-grown diamonds.
