Luxury fashion brand Chloe has collaborated with India-based social enterprise Silaiwali to launch a limited-edition collection of fashion dolls and accessories designed to showcase Chloe’s designs in upcycled fabric.

The Silaiwali- Chloe collaboration is now live in Chloe stores and online, Silaiwali announced on Facebook. The collaboration has yielded two limited edition dolls, each dressed in a classic Chloé dress, as well as two bag charm designs and two Christmas gift ornaments.

“One of the senior people at Chloé saw our concept and products on Instagram and contacted us inquiring if we would be interested in collaborating with them,” Silaiwali’s co-founder Iris Strill told Vogue India. “We jumped at the proposition. Interestingly both Chloé and Silaiwali got the WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation) certification as Guaranteed Fair Trade Enterprise this year.”

Silaiwali was launched by husband and wife team Bishwadeep Moitra and Iris Strill with the aim of reducing textile waste and generating employment. The organisation’s motto is, “A Stitch Against Waste. A Stitch for Freedom” and its dolls retail in over 100 stores worldwide. The enterprise has also collaborated with Uniqlo and designer Ulla Johnson.

“The Silaiwali-Chloé collaboration is a proud moment for us,” said Strill. “The products are just being launched. However, I am quite happy with the way we have grown in these last few years. We are not looking for any windfall gains. Our motivation will remain on how many ladies for whom we can find sustainable employment and how much waste fabric we can upcycle.”
