Balabala held a launch event for its first physical outlet in Nepal in line with local social distancing regulations, the brand announced on Facebook. The brand launched its summer 2021 collection of western wear for children in-store with a selection of brightly coloured, casual dresses, sets, separates, t-shirts and outerwear.

Branded children’s wear is a rapidly growing product category in South Asia and numerous children’s wear brands are capitalising on this trend by opening stores in the region, especially in India. This trend is leading to an organisation of the market.

Already counting over 4,500 stores on mainland China and over 50 international stores, Balabala is expanding globally via franchise partnerships, according to its website. The brand is actively looking for franchisees to open global stores with a preferred size of 150 to 250 square metres and has also opened franchise stores in Mongolia, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Balabala was founded in 2002 in China and its slogan is 'same childhood, different style'. The brand plans to open over 400 new stores in 2021 in China and internationally.
