Ethnic wear brand Chidiyaa will hold a pop-up exhibition for its latest designs at New Delhi’s India Islamic Cultural Centre in Lodhi from January 18 to 19 to showcase traditional crafts in the capital.
The brand’s latest collection features deep jewel tones of red and green for winter with loose-fit, embellished kurtas, block-printed handloom sarees, golden sets, and metallic wrap dresses. The collection has a paired-down aesthetic that serves to highlight heritage textiles used.
The brand specialises in hand-printing techniques using wooden printing blocks. This season notable prints include dragonflies and stripes.
Chidiyaa holds a large number of pop-up stores to showcase its designs across India’s metros where it does not have a brick-and-mortar presence. The brand held a pop-up in Bengaluru from December 12 to 14, 2019, and also held events in Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad over the winter season.
Designer Deepanshu Ohlan founded Chidiyaa in 2016 and the brand’s name means “house sparrow”. The brand retails both womenswear and menswear and has a natural, simple aesthetic. The brand ships worldwide through its dedicated e-commerce site.
