Women’s ethnic wear brand Chidiyaa has opened its first flagship store in New Delhi in DLF Avenue Saket. The store houses Chidiyaa’s full range of hand-printed sarees and separates.
Chidiyaa’s new store in Delhi has a modern, industrial aesthetic with a cement floor and walls mixed with shelves made from natural wood and mannequins made from bent wire, the brand shared on Facebook. The space’s neutral colour palette allows Chidiyaa’s brightly coloured sarees, separates, and accessories to stand out and high ceilings give the feeling of open space.
The store launched with Chidiyaa’s latest collection, which features striped kurta sets, bright silk blouses, hand printed sarees, and polka-dot print pieces.
The brand holds a large number of pop-up stores to showcase its designs across India’s metros, where it does not have a brick-and-mortar presence. Ahead of its store launch in the capital, Chidiyaa held its most recent pop-up event on January 19, at the Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi. The brand also held shopping events in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Hyderabad over the winter season.
Designer Deepanshu Ohlan founded Chidiyaa in 2016, and the brand’s name means “house sparrow”.
The brand retails both womenswear and menswear and has a natural, simple aesthetic. The brand ships worldwide through its dedicated e-commerce site and also has a flagship store in Gurgaon.
