Chiaroscuro Bags showcased its up-cycled leather bags and accessories in Delhi at the recent American Embassy Mela in Chanakyapuri on November 24, to widen its customer base and promote responsibly sourced leather.
On Sunday, Chiaroscuro Bags presented a selection of vintage-inspired leather bags and accessories in the capital, the brand posted on Facebook.
The brand retailed a range of shoulder bags, wallets, totes, backpacks, and clutch bags in a range of natural leather hues with a number of brightly coloured options.
“We source each hide from stock and sample lots where the leather has already been tanned but lying unused to avoid wastage,” the brand posted on its website.
“This is known as up-cycling of leather. Almost all the leather qualities we use are tanned using natural tannin and coloured with mostly vegetable dyes to keep the process as environmentally responsible as possible. Even the fabric we use is made from 100% natural fibres and hand-loomed with love.”
Smriti Sain launched Chiaroscuro Bags five years ago with a team of leather artisans in New Delhi.
The brand, which retails from its dedicated e-commerce store, produces its pieces with a “single artisan” format, meaning each piece is made from start-to-finish by the same artisan to keep the skills of traditional leather crafting alive.
