France-based menswear brand Celio plans to increase its sourcing from India by five times from 4% at present to 20% over the coming two years. The brand also plans to open between 15 and 20 stores in India each year moving forward.

Celio currently manufactures between 3% and 4% of its total products using third party vendors, ET Retail reported. With the size and scope of the apparel manufacturing industry in India, the brand is confident it can find the right manufacturers to increase its India-based production.

“It’s a different planet and has improved a lot,” Celio’s global CEO and co-founder Marc Grosman told the Economic times about the Indian market. “Retail is much more organised, consumers much more educated and the demand for fashion has increased a lot.”

This increased consumer demand in the Indian market has led Celio to plan to open exclusive brand outlets across the country. The brand currently has 70 exclusive brand outlets in India as well as 680 other formats of store.

Marc Grosman and Laurent Grosman founded Celio in France over 30 years ago. The brand currently runs over 1,200 stores globally and first entered the Indian market 15 years ago in partnership with Future Group
