On May 18, Rani by Raja came to Mumbai for a panel discussion on Indian fashion with stylist and Lakmé Fashion Week GenNext mentor Kshitij Kankaria, and Vogue India deputy editor Aishwarya Subramanyam. The speakers and guests contrasted Indian fashion from a global and local point of view.

The event was the second in what will be a monthly event for the Cecconi’s restaurant, which not only hosted the talk but also provided a special selection of food for guests. The creatives agreed that they all work to subvert stereotypes of Indian fashion and explored how to balance creativity and commercial viability.

Rani by Raja is a multi-brand online store that retails a small, curated selection of Indian designers as well as its own brand of casual wear and Indian traditional wear.

The boutique’s founders aim to mix their Indian heritage with their English life experience and their current Indian import brand selection features Payal Singhal, and Poonam Bhagat.
