Caudalie is setting up shop in the Big Apple. The French skincare brand - created 17 years ago by Mathilde and Bertrand Thomas - has opened two stores across the Atlantic in New York. A flagship store measuring 500 square-feet opened in December on the city’s Bleecker Street. A second, smaller store was opened in October on Lexington Avenue.

The store opening is a first for the brand, but the co-founders have expressed a desire to open more stores in the future. The brand – born at Château Smith Haut Lafitte in Bordeaux – is currently available at 13,000 points of sale across the world and made revenue of 100 million euros last year. The brand’s own stores allow clients to test Caudalie products, with help of specialised vino-therapists to guide them through the history of the brand.

By opening the stores, the Caudalie founders aren’t necessarily looking to create a retail network, but to reinforce its reputation on the market, said Bertrand Thomas to WWD. He also mentioned that the next store openings will be in Brazil and Hong Kong.

Caudalie has 10 spas globally. The brand opened a spa in the Plaza hotel in New York in 2008 and has 348 points of sales across the United States.
