To boost its activity on the Internet, the European label Carhartt WIP (Work In Progress) has appointed Chris Elze to the newly created position of head of e-commerce. Chris Elze was previously a consultant specialized in e-commerce for international groups. He will be based at the Carhartt WIP company headquarters in Germany (Carhartt Workwear headquarters are located in the United States).

Launched in May 2011, the Carhartt WIP e-shop is now available in France, Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain, Austria, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Belgium and Lichtenstein and is expected to be accessible from Spain, Portugal and Ireland by the end of the year.

Carhartt has been offering workwear in the United States for 120 years. The brand emerged in Europe in the mid-1990s as a streetwear label and set up operations locally with its own distribution channel through Work In Progress. It was under this label that the brand developed a network of its own stores in Europe but also in Asia and Australia, finally landing in the United States last year. Carhartt WIP now has a network of 50 stores worldwide, including a dozen in France and is also carried by 2,000 retailers.
