Shoe and accessories brand Aldo is expanding its footprint in South America, as it opens its first store on Uruguayan soil at the Punta Carretas shopping center in Montevideo.
For its first foray into the Uruguayan market, the footwear chain joined hands with Paraguayan group Sallustro, which also represents Aldo Shoes in Paraguay and Bolivia, where it has four stores in total. Sallustro expects to open a second Aldo store in Montevideo Shopping in March 2016 with an investment of $1.5 million.
According to the group’s representatives, the brand plans to open new locations in all shopping malls in the capital.
Aldo was founded in 1972 and is headquartered in Montreal, Canada, with offices in China, Italy and London. It currently trades in more than 1,800 stores in 93 countries.
