CAIT has shared numerous media reports stating that it supports Wangchuk’s call to boycott Chinese goods on its Facebook page. The organisation has called on its seven crore traders and the public to replace around 3,000 Chinese import-heavy product categories with Indian-made products, the Press Trust of India reported.

Wangchuk tweeted that China’s exploitation in Ladakh must be stopped. CAIT then showed its support by stating that Chinese goods, “must immediately be replaced by Indian products as good quality Indian replacements are available for such products,” the Press Trust of India reported.

“The whole country understands the importance of hurting China economically and therefore we wholeheartedly welcome this great initiative and will stand shoulder to shoulder with Sonam Wangchuk,” said CAIT’s secretary general, Praveen Khandelwal.

The traders’ body also encouraged Indian businesses to increase manufacturing to be able to fill the gap which would be left by boycotted Chinese goods. “The role of Indian manufacturers is very significant to successfully run this campaign because at no point of time should there be any shortage of products in the market and the consumers of India should not suffer due to such scarcity,” said CAIT.
