After the jewelry, the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) has now turned the spotlight to eyewear. The federation of American designers has announced the creation of a new eyewear designer group in an effort to promote the sector.

"Created by 12 CFDA member eyewear designers, the group’s aim is to inspire, empower, and promote awareness of eyewear design and the vitality of the optical industry through promotion, education, mentoring and collaborative initiatives," the organization said in a statement.

This group is composed of Barbara McReynolds (LA Eyeworks), Blake Kuwahara (Focus Group West), Christian Roth (Optical Affairs), Daniel Silberman (Illesteva), Gay Gheradi (LA Eyeworks), Grant Krajecki (Grey Ant), Justin Salguero (Illesteva), Larry Leight (Oliver Peoples), Natalie Levy (Grey Ant), Patty Perreira (Barton Perreira), Robert Marc (Robert  Marc), Selima Salaun (Selima Optique) and Shane Baum (Leisure Society).

The group will focus on two specific issues: promoting runway partnerships or ready-to-wear collaborations and holding a press day for eyewear in 2015.

In 2013, the CFDA organized along the same lines for jewelry designers a day for meetings with the press and buyers.
