Bombay Dyeing’s Q4 net profit surges to Rs 1,253 crore

Bombay Dyeing & Manufacturing Co Ltd witnessed a huge surge in its standalone net profit of Rs 1,253 crore ($180.6 million) for the fourth quarter ended March 2019 led by its real estate activities.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 11 crore in the January-March period a year ago, Bombay Dyeing said in a BSE filing.
 
Bombay Dyeing’s revenue for the quarter also shot up by 268 percent to Rs 2,786 crore as against Rs 758 crore it has posted in March 2018.

Bombay Dyeing revenue from Polyester was Rs 367 crore and textile was at Rs 65 crore. It was at Rs 300 crore and Rs 52 crore, respectively, in the corresponding quarter a year ago.
 
The company, however, said that the profits/ losses from its real estate transactions do not necessarily accrue evenly over the year and as such results of a quarter and year may not be representative of profits and losses for the year.
 
For the financial year 2018-19, Bombay Dyeing reported a profit of Rs 1,230 crore in comparison to Rs 34 crore in the previous year while its total revenue for the fiscal stood at Rs 4,469 crore.
