Indian wearables brand Boat has joined the Government of India’s Open Network for Digital Commerce. The business has joined numerous other fashion and lifestyle brands in a collective move to democratise e-commerce in the country.

“Boat is aligned to ONDC’s core purpose of improving adoption and democratising e-commerce in India,” said Boat’s co-founder and CMO Aman Gupta, ET Retail reported. Through ONDC, Boat aims to reach new customer demographics and accelerate its next phase of growth.
Boat retails a wide selection of wearables and audio accessories through its dedicated e-commerce store and on multi-brand e-commerce platforms. As ONDC is currently present in over 240 Indian cities and its highest daily order total is 11,100, utilising the platform will enable the brand to connect with new customers online.
“ONDC is evolving and expanding the product categories via continuous onboarding of new sellers, enabling customers to benefit from a wider range of products and services,” said ONDC’s CEO and managing director T Koshy. The addition of Boat to ONDC has strengthened its wearables and electronic accessories segment, according to Koshy.
The government launched ONDC in five cities in April, 2022 and aims to expand it across the country. The government is promoting the platform as a way to bring more retailers online and give shoppers access to all products, regardless of the size of the seller.
