Bikry app raises $1.3 million in new funding round
Bizrise Technologies’ app Bikry, which facilitates businesses going online, has raised $1.3 million (Rs 8.65 crore) in a new funding round led by U.S.-based startup accelerator, YCombinator.
The recent funding round also saw participation from the founders of Twitch TV and businesses including RazorPay, Angelist, and Cabra VC, among others. The business has seen its user base grow during the past year and plans to continue to expand its services and serve over one million businesses by the end of the year, YourStory reported.
“Getting every business online, especially during this time of the pandemic, is one of the critical steps we can take together not just to stay competitive but also to foster strong engagement and communication with your large customer base,” Bikry’s co-founder Abhishek Bhayana told YourStory.
“We are glad to be able to bring direct-to-customer internet channels to neighbourhood shops and services that are not just seeking to emerge from this pandemic crisis but now see us as a long-term credible partner to drive strong business growth.”
“We aim to save small businesses from the clutches of online aggregators and their high commissions,” said Bhayana. “During this pandemic, we have seen an incredible increase of 300% in our unique customer base.”
Abhishek Bhayana founded Bikry with Himanshu Garg in 2019 with the aim of supporting small businesses and getting them online. The business starts small-scale entrepreneurs off with a free online catalogue-style website which has integrated online payment facilities as well as local-level and national-level shipping.
Businesses can also share their online catalogue on messaging apps such as WhatsApp which have become popular for Indian retailers and can upload up to five lakh products. The Bikry app is available to download on the Google Playstore.
