BigBasket to launch express delivery service BB Now this December
Multi-brand e-commerce retailer BigBasket will launch new express delivery service ‘BB Now’ in December this year to offer 10 to 20 minute delivery through its shopping app.
As fast delivery for e-commerce businesses, particularly those in the groceries and personal care spaces, grows in popularity, BigBasket has joined businesses including Zepto and Grofers to announce the launch of its own express service, the Economic Times reported. The Tata-owned business plans to launch the service in mid-December.
Along with bringing all of its grocery offerings onto its main BigBasket app, the business is also in the process of bringing its subscription-based essentials delivery service BB Daily onto the app as it consolidates its services.
“We realised it's better to have all the offerings in one app,” said BigBasket’s CEO Hari Menon, ET Tech reported. “These are being worked out and will be launched soon.”
BigBasket is also expanding its offline services and opened its first brick-and-mortar ‘Fresho’ store in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The store only retails fresh produce but shoppers can order other products available on BigBasket’s e-commerce store through the Fresho app, including cosmetics and personal care goods, and collect them in-store.
The business has not fixed whether or not Fresho will become part of the main BigBasket app but has planned to continue offline expansion for its private brand. Each Fresho store will be around 2,000 square feet and feature AI technology for automatic bill generation and automatic computer vision.
