Bibi Russell showcases collection at Jaipur by Nite

The Bangladeshi fashion designer Bibi Russell showcased her latest collection at a “Royal Evening of Fashion”, part of the Jaipur by Nite event.

Bibi Russell presented a collection dedicated to Khadi that was accompanied by the rock band Agnee and followed by a food festival. The event took place at Jaipur’s City Palace on September 2 and, despite heavy rain delaying the show’s start by two hours, the weather finally permitted the show to go ahead.

Russell’s collection was inspired by Rajasthan’s Khadi tradition and used the sustainable textile to create both traditional and fusion wear attire in a host of bright colours and pure white. Russell presented both men’s and womenswear with a collection that included bright blue sarees and bright yellow kurta-inspired sets. Models walked the runway in colour coordinated groups and the show finished with a group of crème and white ensembles.

“I am showing the beautiful work of Rajasthani weavers and craftsmen… it’s always a pleasure showing the beautiful work of Rajasthan,” said Russell at the event.

The Jaipur at Nite event, which ran from August 31 to September 2, featured a number of other segments including an all-female car rally with 175 participants driving across the city. The event had a number of partners that included the Rajasthan Khadi and Village Industries Board and the Government of Rajasthan.
