The Indian designer Bibhu Mohapatra showcased his Autumn/ Winter 2019 collection at New York Fashion Week as he celebrated his brand’s 10th anniversary.

Bibhu Mohapatra brought his signature high-octane glamour to the runway on February 11 as part of NYFW. The collection honoured the women who have inspired the designer and looked to the future of the brand as it completes its first decade.
The collection was bold and tailored but wearable. Black, white, and neon-hued accents created a striking aesthetic and textiles like lace and satin added a feminine touch. With 80s influences and nods to his Indian heritage, Mohapatra’s tenth anniversary collection made a strong statement.
Mohapatra closed the show wearing a white kurta and later took to Facebook to thank the artisans who worked on the collection. "No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it,” wrote the designer, sharing a photo of his team.
Bibhu Mohapatra was born in India and moved to the US to peruse his studies at Utah State University and then the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. After working at Halston and J Mendel, Mohapatra founded his eponymous label in 2009. Mohapatra won the Ecco Domani award for Women's Wear in 2011 and is an elected member of the CFDA.
