Code Beauty’s new e-commerce store launched with five products and prices range from Rs 99 ($1.34) for a cosmetic disinfectant pen to Rs 899 for brush and sponge cleansing balms. Other products include an eyeshadow and powder sanitiser and cosmetic sanitising wipes.

“There was an undeniable gap in the beauty industry as far as hygiene was concerned,” Louzado told Vogue India about why she launched the brand.

“The pandemic exposed the situation further. I had always contemplated these issues and mulled over how to solve them. Production happens in India and we closely work with ISO certified companies recognised, within the AYUSH ministry that have undergone stringent lab testing and quality control accredited with global certifications.”

The brand’s formulas are patent pending and cruelty free, paraben-free, sulphate-free and phthalate-free, according to Louzado. Products feature retro style packaging with minimal designs.

“We started off by exploring products ranging from sanitising wipes, vegan brush and sponge baths infused with luxurious and nourishing ingredients such as grapefruit oil, charcoal, orange oil that are especially curated for powder-based makeup products,” said Louzado.

“Every organic ingredient has the added benefit of naturally fighting off bacteria without the use of excessive chemicals making it a sustainable choice and safe choice for one to make.”
