This edition, the Indian diamond trade show Bharat Diamond Week will have a special focus on attracting international businesses. The event announced on September 26 that it has a number of incentives for first-time visitors to the event including reimbursement of flight tickets up to Rs 50,000 ($700) for diamond purchases over $100,000 and complimentary hotel accommodation for certain buyers, the GJEPC reported on its website.

"Close to 90% of all the world's polished diamonds are manufactured in India, so the variety of goods on offer is vast,” said the Bharat Diamond Bourse’s president Anoop Mehta, as reported by the GJEPC.

“In addition, the show falls just before the Diwali festival and shutdown, so many manufacturers will be offering great deals on their polished goods.”

The trade show held a visit to the Shanghai Diamond Exchange to promote the event and signed a memorandum of understanding with Thailand's leading gems and jewellery associations.

The trade show expects many more participants than its previous two editions. The event will not feature any synthetic or lab-grown diamonds as trading such diamonds is banned on the Bharat Diamond Bourse.
