Beginning with high-heels in sizes not usually stocked in stores, BeUnic now has dedicated segments on its e-commerce store for clothing, footwear, home décor, accessories and more, self care, and its rainbow collection. The site has reached a stock total of 400 different products by 25 brands and Chopra plans to continue to partner with brands run by LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs to give them a platform from which to retail their goods and reach like-minded customers.

“When I was doing drag and I could not find heels of my size, I told my mother why don’t you start designing heels for men,” Chopra told Indian Express, about how he first launched the platform in 2019.

“For a year we were only doing footwear and honestly, we sold only five pairs in a year. Every product on our website is made by LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs. Our platform gives them visibility and they can serve customers not just in India but across all the world.”

BeUnic currently delivers across India and in ten other countries.

“Our market is not just for the LGBTQ+ community, it’s everyone and anyone who wants to support the queer community,” said Chopra about the store’s target customers.
