Bekal International Beach Festival to feature bridal fashion show in Kerala

On December 24, the Bekal International Beach Festival will launch in Kerala in North Malabar. The eclectic event will celebrate the state’s culture and include a bridal fashion show and artist showcases. 

The event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and it will take place at Bekal Beach Park, the event organisers announced on Facebook. The event is designed to showcase the cultural uniqueness of the region and events will also take place at Chandragiri, Thejaswini, and Payaswini as part of the festival. 
 
“By conducting the festival, the diverse identity and culture-rootedness and legacy of Kasargod, also called the ‘Sapthabhasha Sangamabhoomi’ (the land where seven languages meet) could be proudly conveyed in front of a global audience,” said member of the Legislative Assembly CH Kunhambu, the Hindu Businessline reported. 

A bridal fashion contest will present a range of local styles and designers and a children’s fashion show will promote kids’ wear brands while giving children their first experiences modelling. A business-to-customer flea market feature fashion, accessories, and local handicrafts and a business trade expo aims to create networking opportunities. 
 
Around five lakh people are expected to attend the festival over the course of 10 days. Food festivals and music performances will celebrate local talent and entertain guests and a beach sports tournament will also feature. The festival is designed to remove political and caste-based barriers and promote equality.
