Beej is the first brand to use Mirum in South Asia, Vogue India reported. The handbag label will soon open pre-orders for its maiden Mirum bag, a mini monochrome baguette of which only 25 pieces will be made, the brand announced on its website.

The vegan leather alternative is manufactured by US-based material research business Natural Fibre Welding. The material has been used by luxury brands including Ralph Lauren and Pangaia.

Mirum is a leather alternative which is made from all natural, plant-based materials and it does not contain any plastics or plastic-based binders, according to Beej. The material is made from FSC Certified natural rubber, natural colorants including biomass charcoal, other natural fillers, and plant based oils and waxes. The material is degradable and can also be recycled back into new Mirum textiles.

“Aptly named Era, this design is symbolic of a whole new era in circular and sustainable fashion, and we are proud and privileged to be the first South Asian brand to design with this exceptional material,” Beej announced on its website.
