Nykaa stated on March 31 regarding the suspension of its activities in the country. The announcement from the retailer comes a week later after a nationwide lockdown was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 24.

"Most state governments have issued directives to temporary shutdown establishments, retail stores, logistics, business operations, etc. We are adhering to every instruction of the government and the health department and will continue to do so," Nykaa said in a statement.

Nykaa also stated that it will not be able to make payments of outstanding invoices to all vendors and partners in time due to a disruption in cash flow.

Nykaa had earlier created a new e-commerce interface, which showed ‘essential’ personal care products such as soap, skincare, haircare, and baby products in accordance with the Union Government’s ruling that only essential items can be delivered during the 21-day lockdown.

However, with all major e-commerce players facing disruptions in deliveries, Nykaa finally decided to shut doors until April 14.
