Bata plans offline, online expansion to acquire new customers - Bata

The company has seen an increase in its customer base over the last few years, which includes millennials and it looks to further tap this segment with a host of in-house brands like North Star, Bata Red Label, Marie Claire and Footin.

Bata will use a multi-retail channel strategy for its offline expansion, while online it will focus on its website and also look to deepen its ties with e-commerce platforms in the country.

"India is much bigger and the brand image is also bigger. So we decided to expand our reach to as many Indians and take advantage of our equities Now, we are using all three engines - our own stores, franchise partner store, which is a big drive for us in tier 3 & 4, and multi-brand outlets,” Bata India CEO Sandeep Kataria told PTI.

Along with offline, we will use our e-commerce channels, whether through bata.in or other marketplaces to get as many consumers as we can," Kataria added.

Bata has a retail network of over 1,415 stores in 450 towns. The company has been witnessing strong growth in India and had reported a net profit of Rs 330 crore ($46.5 million) with revenue of Rs 2,928 for the financial year 2018-19.
