Bata donates one million pairs of shoes to fight Covid-19

Footwear major Bata has donated around one million pairs of shoes to front-liners fighting the Covid-19 across countries and regions in which it operates.

Through this initiative, Bata will donate shoes to health care workers, volunteers, and their families in Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and India.
Besides shoes, Bata has produced and donated face masks, face shields, and protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers.
Commenting on the initiative, Bata CEO, Alexis Nasard, in a statement said: “During these unprecedented times, Bata is committed to doing everything possible to ensure the health and safety of our employees and consumers, to continue to serve our consumers to the best of our ability, and to take meaningful action to help communities in need and those on the frontlines.”
"Now more than ever, we are committed to upholding our values and to improving the lives of our consumers, employees, suppliers, customers, and communities,” Nasard added.
Bata has been witnessing strong growth in India and had reported a net profit of Rs 330 crore with revenue of Rs 2,928 for the financial year 2018-19. It has a retail network of over 1,415 stores in 450 towns in the country.
