Bangalore Watch Company launches ‘Apogee’s Extraterrestrial’ collection
Bangalore Watch Company has launched a limited-edition ‘Apogee’s Extraterrestrial’ collection of 50 watches which it claims has been created from space meteorites.
The brand claims that it has recovered rocks from the ‘Muonionalusta’ meteorite from Sweden to form watch dials for the 50 pieces which makes each watch in the collection unique.
Commenting on the collection, Nirupesh Joshi, founder creative director of Bangalore Watch Company in a statement said, “At Bangalore Watch Company, we are committed to making world-class watches that tell inspiring stories from 21st century India, and this is a story we’re proud to tell."
"Meteorites are outer space rocks, they mostly burn up when entering Earth’s atmosphere, but some of them make it through. We found one such rock and worked with our manufacturing partners in Switzerland to create 50 watches from it. Because of the rarity of the material and the challenges in manufacturing, we can only make small batches at a time," he added.
The limited-edition watch is priced at Rs 1.86 lacs ($2200) and will be available on request at the brand’s website.
Founded in 2018, Bangalore Watch Company produces luxury wristwatches and sells exclusively through its website.
