Banana Republic moves London jobs stateside

US retailer Banana Republic has moved a number of product and supporting job positions from its London office to its Gap headquarters in San Francisco.

The company confirmed that after assessing its operations, it has decided to move a few international product and supporting positions to the US to be part of a global merchant and international management team. The shift is believed to help the company be more efficient and create a consistent global brand experience. Other functions that support the market will remain in London.

In Q1 2015, Gap reported a 3% sales decrease to $3.66 billion from $3.77 billion from the previous first quarter. Banana Republic Global saw a decrease of 8% compared to the decrease of 1% in the prior year. The brand is in 3rd place in terms of performance lagging behind Old Navy by as much as $900 million in sales. The brand reported $621 million in sales for Q1 2015, down from $669 million in the previous year.
