Bajaj Consumer Care Q2 net profit down 18 percent to Rs 46 crore

FMCG firm Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd reported an 18 percent decline in its consolidated net profit to Rs 46 crore ($6.2 million) for the second quarter ended in September 2021, as against Rs 57 crore it reported in the year-ago period.

The company’s revenue for the July-September quarter was down by 5 percent to Rs 213 crore, as against Rs 223 crore it reported in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
 
Bajaj Consumer Care’s expenses for the quarter were up 2 percent to Rs 170 crore, as against 166 crore it reported in the year-ago period.

“Retail performance has been good with nearly double-digit growth, backed by focused drives and top retailer loyalty program. Despite demand slowdown, rural remained flat due to expansion of rural network in select states,” Bajaj Consumer said in its earnings report.
 
“E-commerce continues to scale up Q-o-Q with doubling of business over last year currently contributing to 4 percent to the overall revenue. Partnerships with top e-retailers, Amazon and Flipkart, resulted in high growth,” it added.
 
Bajaj Consumer Care is part of the Bajaj Group and is one of the leading players in the hair oil and skincare categories in India.
